Starts & Stops w/ACC.D Flashcards
Which checks are always completed as challenge and response?
Before movement CX
Which warnings are allowed during engine startup without doing an abort start? (6/2)
Below 60% NG: AUX P, ALT 1/2, GPU, OIL FILT, MGB P
Above 60% NG: Fuel BP and OIL FILT are fine
You are mid engine start when the fire lights illuminate, what are your actions?
Emergency engine shutdown - Perform (affected engine)
If fie confirmed by ground handler
EEP shot 1 and 2 - Press
Emergency engine shutdown - Perform
Rotor Brake - On
Emergency Egress - Perform
What are the steps to the emergency egress on the ground?
- Doors - Open
If unable - Call “DOORS” x3
- HMSD - Down
- Danger area - Clear
- Emergency exit handle - Pull
To egress cockpit - HID/GAG-R - Stowed
- QRC/QRP - Released
- Ballistic plates - Stowed
- Harness - Released
- Cockpit - exit
if in water - Life vest - inflate
There are 4 data cards that must be taken to the aircraft, what are they?
DID x 2
MDT
RMM
What is meant by the term “slick departure”?
A slick departure involves ground crew removing the external pins prior to start
What are your actions in the event of a park brake failure?
Nil checklist actions, likely manual brakes by turning on HYD AUX
What are the likely causes of an AFCS test failure and what are your actions should it fail?
Most likely is that hands/feet interfered with the flight controls.
If you have a suspicion that it was pilot error, then the test can be completed again after an AC system reset has been conducted
Explain the process for an engine dry crank:
The process involves confirming the ECP/METs are in a manual control state, running the starter and then resetting ECP/METs back to auto control functions before reattempting engine start
You are mid start when you see ENG 1 temp reading 820ºC and increasing, what are your actions?
Abort start - EEP Shutoff then normal
Consult checklist for slow time completion of abort start procedure
You are mid start when you notice that NG is sitting at 35% and very slowly rising, what are your actions?
Abort start - EEP Shutoff then normal
Consult checklist for slow time completion of abort start procedure
Explain what you would expect to see in the event of an overspeed limit malfunction on start up:
Overspeed limit is controlled by the RTUs, should they fail a mix of MFD data would be lost between system 1 and 2
What is the emergency engine shutdown procedure on the ground?
EEP - SHUT OFF
Pump 1/2 - OFF
You are on the ground and notice the smell of burning electronics, what are your actions?
Weather windows - Open
ECS - VENT/OFF
On ground unable to sideslip
Electrical fire checklist - Perform
If further action required to effect a safe landing
Canopy jettison - Perform
Land - ASAP
What causes the acceptable warnings during start to occur?
AUX P - APS being regenerated by AC electrical pump
ALT 1/2 - ?
OIL FILT - Oil is still cold and as such computer thinks filter will be blocked
MGB P - ?
GPU - Still connected
Above 60%
Fuel BP - Fuel pump switch moved from ON to AUTO too quickly
OIL FILT - No change
List the abort start criteria:
Abort start if:
- Start light illuminated after 40 sec
- No ignition within 25 sec
- Start light illuminated after 60% NG
- NG stagnation (<0.5%/sec)
- T4.5 exceeds 750ºC (transient up too 800ºC for 3 sec)
- No NF by 35% NG
- No NR by 30% NG (ACC.D exempt)
- NF overspeed flags lit after 85 RPM NF
- PWR class A during start
Where can AUM be found on the TOLD card?
AUM with stores located in the centre biggest box
You are about to start the SAND FILT test are there any other considerations?
Confirm that the ground crew aren’t IVO the sand filter exhaust
What information should be brought to the prebrief? (5)
TOLD Card
Weather/NOTAMs
Other aircraft/deconfliction plan
Biggest risks
PEX pre auto/FCIFs cleared
You have just been given your XPNDR code from ATC, can you enter it through the CDU immediately?
Yes, unless in a formation
At what point in the checks should you listen to the ATIS?
Typically listened to during AFCS preflight test, must be heard before PFD set during before movement CX
During the HYD test, what are you testing when you move the pedals, cyclic and collective?
Pedals: When testing HYD2, they are easier to move
Cyclic: Testing movement is smooth and easy, looking at the rotor disc is not required
Collective: Smooth, easy and aircraft “lurch” approx 5PMI
In the engine start CX, are you required to clear the area?
No, the ground crew will clear the area and when they do so this is the confirmation that they are “posted”
During startup, what is done on the STP page on the CDU? (3)
1: Data XFER —> (2) DAFIF in date —> DID-P to System
