Fuel & Engine Management Emergencies Flashcards
What are the indications for a single ECMU failure? (3)
- GOV 1/2 Class A alarm
- ECP - MAN Light + GOV 1/2
- PMI lost (PFD+HMSD)
During an ECMU failure, at what points in the circuit should the FP announce their collective movements?
BTP, commencing the approach and on late finals
There are three kinds of ECMU failure, what are they?
Minor GOV 1 OR 2 failure: Amber “GOV 1/2”
Major GOV 1 OR 2 failure: Red “GOV 1/2”
Major GOV 1 AND 2 failure: Red “GOV 1 GOV 2”
During a major ECMU failure, what happens if the MAN button is selected on the failed system?
The fuel flow will be frozen at its current state, unable to be impacted by collective and the MET
You are flying upwind low level at 80KIAS when you see “GOV 1” class A on the MFD, what are your initial actions as the FP?
Single ECMU Major failure:
- “GOV 1” Class A
- Attitude for 100KIAS —> Climb 1000ftAGL
- INT PWR selected
- Confirm MAN light illuminated: “MAN 1 illuminated”
While on crosswind your NFP alerts you to GOV 1 and GOV 2 warnings, what are your initial actions as the FP?
Dual ECMU Major Failure
- Collective freeze/Nr within limits —> Speed stable attitude
- Safe H/H/AS
How should the NFP adjust the METs during a duel ECMU failure?
If Nr low, advance the low engine
If Nr high, reduce the high engine
What additional points are relevant for the PWP during ECMU failures? (2)
- Brief actions on the ground, single/double ENG EMERG shutdown
- Flat attitude TD speed
You are flying and notice “F.LOW1” Class B on the MFD, what are your actions?
C: “Fuel low 1”
A: Safe height, HDG, IAS —> Fuel Page If leaking: —> IAS for OEI
N: Turn towards aerodrome
C: PAN, KNGT XX, fuel leak for immediate RTB
A: B4LDG Cx, EMERG Cx —> RTB via OEI profile
Regarding the ECMU failure checklist, what would be considered uncontrollable TQ values?
- TQ is stuck out of limits/excessively low
- TQ is fluctuating/moving even when METs and COL are not
