Q

List the key inspection points for the walk around:

A

Pilot Cockpit: Pins in —> M/ARM window —> Connect QRP/QRC, hang helmet —> Det cord condition —> Pitots —> Antennas Underneath (Temp, LL, Doppler)

Nose: Gun panel closed —> Gun cap on —> Gun stowed (shake) —> Pitots —> Wipers

Stub wing: (Top then bottom) RMS lens condition —> VHF2 condition —> Rotor hub condition —> Sand Filt —>Fuel cap —> —> —> External stores (shake) Laser detector —> Oil level

Tail Boom: RMM —> Apache bag —> Satcom —> Glide-slope antenna —> Chaff/flare

Tail Rotor: Oil Level (IGB) —> Oil cap —> Rotor blade shake —> Oil level (TGB) —> GPS/Light

Tail Boom: Tail wheel locked —> HF —> Glide-slope antenna —> ELT —> IR suppressor

Q

You have completed the before movement CX and are ready to taxi forward, how do you initiate the forward taxi?

A

FTR 30-40% PMI through HMSD —> Approx 1 inch forward cyclic —> once at speed, centre cyclic and reduce power

Q

How can taxi speed be assessed? (3)

A

Slow walking pace - Lateral rate of closure scan
HMSD hover vector - Central HMSD

Q

How is cyclic used during ground taxi?

A

Fore/aft: Controls rate of acceleration
Left/right: Maintain wings level attitude when taxiing faster/string crosswinds

Q

Explain the process for a min radius turn:

A

Tail Wheel - UNLOCKED
Collective - set 40%
Cyclic - Slightly aft
Pedals - Initiate turn
Cyclic - fore/aft as required to pivot about left/right MLG wheel
Tail wheel - LOCKED

Q

Explain the process for taxiing rearwards with the tail wheel unlocked:

A

PMI - set 40%
Cyclic - slightly aft to initiate rearwards roll
Pedals - input 10-15% yaw
Allow tail wheel to castor
Pedals - Reestablish HDG as req

Reach taxi point

Cyclic - Centralised
PMI - 30%
Cyclic - Forwards to start roll
Pedals - 10-15% yaw
Allow tail wheel to straighten
Pedals - Pedals - Reestablish HDG as req
Tail wheel - Lock as req

Q

Explain the engine NF values throughout the ACC.D engine start up:

A

Before start: Zero NF/NR
ENG 1 starts: NF1 = 328, NR = 0
ENG 2 starts: NF1 = 328, NF2 = 309, NR = 309
SLOW ENG 1: NF1= 268, NF2 = 309, NR = 309
MAIN is now selected on ACCDCP
Deselect SLOW ENG 1: NF1= 328, NF2 = 309, NR = 328
VALID selected on ACCDCP
VALID deselected: NF1 = 328, NF2 = 328, NR = 328

Q

What is the biggest “gotcha” regarding the ACC.D process?

A

During engine shutdown, after NG 1 and 2 both read 0%, you must wait 90sec before selecting MAIN on the ACCDCP to avoid any damage
