Chopping
Cut into even-sized pieces.
Peeling
Use a peeler to remove the skin from vegetables and fruits such as apples. (Thin peeling)
Use a sharp knife to remove the skin from citrus fruits (eg orange) and squashes. (Thick peeling)
Slicing
Keep the knife blade facing the board. Use smooth strokes to cut the food into even slices.
Grating
Use a grater.
Dicing.
Use a sharp knife to cut food into small cubes.
Shredding
Use a sharp knife of food processor go cut food into very fine strips.
Whisking/whipping.
Use a whisk
Folding in
Use a whisk of large metal spoon to mix two ingredients together. Cut into the mixture and gently turn it over and over until it is mixed evenly.
Blending
Mixing smoothly. This usually means mixing a powder with cold liquid, eg cornflour with a liquid such as water or milk.
Coring:
Use a corer.
