Standby Liquid Control (SLS) Flashcards
What supplies air to the SLC hydro pump?
Service Air
What is the capacity of 1 SLC pump?
45 GPM
What must happen 1st before a SLC pump starts?
The MOV1 suction valve must open 1st.
What does 2EHS*MCC102C send power to?
MOV1A, P1A, VEX3A (squib vlv), MOV5A
What does 2EHS*MCC302D send power to?
MOV1B, P1B, VEX3B (squib vlv), MOV5B
What do the lights do when the squib valve is fired?
GO OUT
What does it mean if discharge pressure of the SLC pump is 1600#
No flow path.
What pressure is the SLC pump relief valve set at?
1600#
Can divisions be crossed with the SLC hydro pump?
NO
What happens to SLC tank level indication on a loss of IAS?
Fails Low
What happens to the squib current meter after being fired?
The current meter goes downscale
What happens when the SLC tank is empty?
Trips the SLS pumps and closes the MOV1s. This is from level received from RRCS
What percentage must the sodium pentaborate solution be?
13.6% at 1600 gal
to
14.4% at 1530 gal
What are the operating parameters for the SLC tank mixing heater
Manual
45kw
What are the operating parameters for the SLC tank operating heater
Automatic
10kw
what happens when there is only one suction source with both pumps running
Still get full flow of approx 86 gpm.
What must happen to WCS when SLC is initiated and why?
- Isolate
- Running WCS will reduce the boron concentration.
What temperature is maintained in the SLC tank from the 10kw operating heater?
75-85F
What is needed for a SLC tank low level SLC pump trip?
Four level transmitters (2SLS*LT6A, B, C, D) provide SLS storage tank ‘zero’ level signals to RRCS. RRCS trip units use these signals to trip running SLS pumps (or prevent pump start) if tank level is low. The ‘A’ and ‘C’ transmitters input to RRCS Division I; the ‘B’ and ‘D’ transmitters input to Division II. Need BOTH from a division to trip its associated pump. (A & C Trip ‘A’ Pump, B & D Trip ‘B’ Pump).
