What is easy way to remember the general difference between ser and estar?
Ser is for permanent things. Estar is for temporary things.
Nationality ie to talk about place of birth or origin of people
Use 1 (of 10)?
Los padres de Marcos son de Brasil, pero crecieron en Portugal.
Marcos’s parents are form Brazil, but they grew up in Portugal.
When telling the time and date. Remember to always use the plural except for 1
Use 2 (of 10)?
Son las diez de la mañana.
It’s 10 am.
To indicate that something is possessed by someone.
Use 3 (of 10)?
- Esa chaqueta es mía.
2. To indicate possession (3 of 10)
- That jacket is mine.
2. Why use ser?
To describe the physical and personality TRAITS of PEOPLE or a PHYSICAL THING. Don’t use the verb ser to talk about physical condition of people.
Use 4 (of 10)?
La novia de Miguel es muy arrogante. No me gusta para él.
Miguel’s girlfriend is very arrogant. I don’t like her for him
To talk about the occupation of somebody.
Use 5 (of 10)?
- José es albañil y nos ayudó con las reformas de la cocina.
- Someone’s occupation (5 of 10)
- Jose is a mason and he helped us with the remodeling of the kitchen.

when referring to an event that will take place
Use 6 (of 10)?
- El Mundial de Fútbol del 2022 será en Sudáfrica.

- The 2022 World Cup will take place in South Africa.

Use 7 (of 10)?
- Nosotros creemos que la solución al problema de matemáticas es x=14.
- to express an opinion (7 of 10)
- We think the solution to the maths problem is x=14.
