Use 1?
to talk about the location of places or where someone or something is located.
Use 2?
Dates and Seasons - When telling the date with the verb “estar” always use the preposition “a” after the verb. When talking about the seasons of the year, use the verb “estar” followed by the preposition “en”. Don’t use the verb “estar” to tell the time.
Use 3?
to talk about the physical appearance of someone or something.
Use 4?
to talk about the physical condition of people. Remember that this physical condition must be temporary.
Use 5?
to talk about the feelings and emotions of somebody.
Use 6?
to talk about SPECIFIC WEATHER PHENOMENA such as rain, snow, thunderstorms, hails and clouds. Don’t use the verb “estar” to talk about heat, cold, wind, or to express good/bad weather in general. Use the verb “hacer” instead.
Use 7?
follow “estar” by the gerund to form the progressive tenses.
Estamos yendo para casa de mis abuelos.
We’re going to my grandparent’s place.
La hija de Carla está creciendo muy rápido.
Carla’s daughter is growing up quickly.
El cielo está muy nublado. Va a llover.
The sky is very cloudy. It’s going to rain.

It’s dangerous to go out today. It’s hailing.
José está preocupado porque ha suspendido sus exámenes.
Jose is worried because he’s failed his exams.
