Valid drivers License
Who are the only members able to operate fire department vehicles?
Members approved and/or qualified by the DOT, and student drivers under supervision of qualified driver

Drive in a safe and prudent manner under all conditions
What is the operator of an emergency vehicle’s 1st priority?
The safe arrival of the fire department vehicle and the safety of the personnel riding.

to increase visibility:
1.backing in or out of a space where vehicles and pedestrians exist
2. Operating in reduced visibility (fog, rain and snow)
3. operating on a limited access highway and unable to maintain speed comparable to flow of traffic

Come to a complete stop.
How should operators drive?
defensively and be prepared for unexpected action of others
