restraint release that leads to binge eating

A

-promote intuitive eating practices, dont restrictively diet
-set small realistic goals when it comes to food
-praise progress (ie. didn’t binge eat at night but still binge ate in the moring)
-encourage a sense of autonomy in eating behaviors (identify healthy and filling foods that the individual enjoys )
-encourage competence in the individuals ability to not binge/create good eating habits (ie. give a plan of how to create good diet plans and also incorporate individual goals of the person)

the hidden cost of reward?

A

-explaining the rationale and importance behind the behavior
-assuming the task is boring, a slightly more interesting incentive could be added rather than a reward (ie. listening to music while doing the task)
-promote autonomy by providing a sense of choice (you can do 5 minutes of homework now or 15 min later)
-promote competence by explaining how to do the task and giving intructions and feedback on the behavior
-promote relatedness, do the activity or behavior with someone else
-make sure the reward is not expected and not tangible (ie praise)
