What is Continous Training?
Working the entire body for a long period of time
What is Fartlek Training?
A method of training where the terrain and speed are constantly changing
What is circuit training?
A series of exercises completed for a certain amount of time / reps, one after the other.
What is interval training?
Physical training involving alternating stages of high and low intensity.
What is plyometrics?
Exercises where muscles use maximum force in short intervals of time.
What is weight training?
Weight training involves shifting weight to increase the strength ofnthe muscle using a programme of exercises
What 3 factors should you consider when choosing a method of training…
1) The requirements of the particular sport
2) The facilities available in the local area
3) The individuals current level of fitness
2 advantages and disadvantages of continous training
Advantages:
1. Can be done in a variety of places
2. Can be done alone or in a group
Disadvantages:
1. Doesn’t improve anaerobic fitness
2. Some people find it boring
What are 2 advantages and disadvantages of Fartlek?
Advantages:
1. Can be done on a variety of terrains
2. Can have rest peroids or be continous
Disadvantages:
1. There may not be suitable terrain nearby
2. Difficult for the coach to monitor unless if he runs with the athlete
