What is the pivot joint?

A

The pivot joints allow the movement of rotation. The first 2 vertebrae - the atlas and axis - form a pivot joint that connects the skull and the spine.

What is a hinge joint?

A

The hinge joints allows only backwards and forwards rotation. Some hinge points are the elbow and the knee.

A

Made of a socket and the the ball head of either your femur or humerus which fits inside the socket. The femur connects into the pelvis and the humerus connects into the scapula. Theres lots of ROM

A

Similar to a ball and socket but the ball rests against the end of the bone and not inside a socket. Can be found in the ankle or the wrist
