Organic vs Functional
Organic pertains to things that grow or cause diseases independently such as bacteria, cancer, or auto-immune diseases.
Functional pertains to a “dysfunction” such as problem with movement.
Visceral Pain
Dully, poorly localized, and midline.
Somatoparietal Pain
More intense, precisely localized. Often involving the parietal peritoneum. This is worse with movement.
Referred Pain
Convergence of visceral afferants with somatic afferants from diffrerent area at the same spinal level. Well localized.
Biopsychosocial Model
It is a mix of altered motility…
Altered sensation…
And psychosocial factors
Gluten-Free Diet in Non-Celiac IBS

FODMAPS Diet
Avoids carbohydrates that are poorly digested.
