SCALP and FACE Flashcards
What are the results of the connective tissue of scalp being dense?
Localized Infection
Wounds don’t gap
Wounds produce profuse bleeding due to walls of Blood vessels being attached to the connective tissue so cannot be vasoconstricited
where in scalp does the wound gap ? give reason .
In the epicranial aponutrosis,
(A wound reaching this layer gaps because of contraction of the muscle).
They are narrower separated from each
other by an extension of epicranial
aponeurosis, each arises from lateral
2/3 of the highest nuchal line.
occipital bellies if occipito-frontalies
Nerve supply of Occipito-frontalies??
Frontal part: Temporal of Facial
Occipital : post. auricular of facial
the dangerous layer of the scalp
Loose aerolar Connective tissue
Allows free mobility of the previous 3 layers on skull bones?
Loose aereolar CT
Wounds gap in ? why?
In the epicranial aponurosis , because of contraction of Occipito-Frontalies Muscles
Blood or pus cannot pass to back of neck because of?
attachment of occipital bellies of
occipito-frontalis to the occipital bone
Black eye in case of scalp trauma due to ?
Blood can pass anteriorly since frontal bellies are
not attached to bone, blood can enter the eyelids resulting in “Black eye”
Why Loose CT is called dangerous area ?
Becaus of emissary veins can transmit infections from extracranial to intracranial cavity structures
Origin of blood supply of the Scapl ?
ECA
ICA
Mention Blood supply of scalp ,
S3PO
-Supraorbital and supratrochlear of Opthalmic Of ICA
-Superficial Temporal artery from ECA (Terminal)
-Posterior auricular of ECA
-Occipital of ECA
Where superficial temoral art can be felt?
In front of Auricle (Tragus) of ear
- Pierces trapezius to become superficial
Occipital artery
Branches of Superficial temporal
Ya AMGT2!
Auricular
Middle tempral
Glandular
Transverse facial
Terminals Frontal and parietal
