how does arthritis mutilans appear?

A
  • this is the most severe form of psoriatic arthritis!
  • causes osteolysis (destruction) of the bones of the fingers and toes which causes digit shortening giving an appearance that is often called ‘telescopic finger’

what is the treatment for psoriatic arthritis?

A

Similar to RA!

  • DMARDs (usually methotrexate)
  • Anti TNF available for those who do not respond to standard treatment
  • joint replacement can be considered in larger joints which are severely affected
