what is knee bursitis?
A
inflammation of the bursa (fluid-filled sack near knee joint)

what can cause knee bursitis?
A
- bacterial infection to bursa
- overuse or strenuous activity
- frequent or sustained pressure (for example from kneeling on hard surfaces too much)

what diseases are commonly seen with knee bursitis?
A
- gout
- pseudogout
- RA

how does knee bursitis present?
A
- localised pain and tenderness over bursa
- low grade temp and erythema if septic bursitis

how is bursitis diagnosed?
A
- usually a clinical diagnoses
- aspiration, fluid culture and gram stain may be done

what is the treatment for jnee bursitis?
A
- NSAIDs
- analgesics
- maybe steroid injection is really painful
- rest!!
