Plasma: liquid portion of blood prior to clotting including proteins and clotting factors
Serum: liquid portion of blood after clotting; includes albumins and globuline

Albumin (35-50%); made by the liver
If you see hyperproteinemia, what are the two options?
Relative increase (loss of fluid)
Increased production
What ratio can help differentiate dehydration and inflammation by using plasma proteins and fibrinogen?
Plasma protein:fibrinogen ratio
Cows: >15 = dehydration
20 = dehydration
