Minoans

  • developed around 3000 BCE
  • lasted nearly 2,000 years
  • established many colonies
  • lots of trade
  • Knossos (Minoan life was discovered through excavation)
  • art work depicts kings, rulers, religion, but Minoan was strictly for beauty (lives tied to sea, very athletic)
  • ceased to exist eventually, island north of Crete had a volcanic eruption that helped wipe out the civilization
