- Polymicrobial
- Pyogenic (microbes producing pus in abundance)
- Usually sexually transmitted
- ~20% chlamydia

- Proliferation as endometrium sloughs

What are the mnfts of pelvic inflammatory disease?
- Abdm and lower back pain
- Heavy, purulent discharge
- Fever
- Adnexal tenderness (uterus and associated structures)
What are 3 complications that may arise as a result of pelvic inflammatory disease?
- Peritonitis

- Labs (ESR, CRP)
