Define body dysmorphic disorder
a. Preoccupation with some imagined defect in appearance when, in reality, they look totally normal
Define the delusional types of BDD
- More severe, and people are less educated
2. Respond just as well to treatment for BDD, but not to drugs
What is a target demographic for people with BDD?
Man or woman with art/design background, onset around 16-17
What is a proposed cause of BDD?
i. Best guess is that it is similar to OCD, since there is a 15% comorbidity
What is treatment for BDD?
i. Drugs that block serotonin reuptake
ii. Exposure and response prevention
iii. Plastics surgery usually just makes the problem worse
Define hoarding disorder
a. Prevalence is twice as high as OCD
b. Often starts in early years from buying things to get eupohoria -> retail therapy
c. Experience strong distress from throwing anything away
d. Usually live alone, middle aged white women

i. CBT with modest results
