Q

Specificity of host

A
  • Type=the host where parasite was first described
  • obligatory=essential to complete life cycle
  • principal=the most specific host
  • accidental=not usual host but can be parasitized
  • artificial=expremental in non-natural hosts
  • paratenic= not necessary but facilitates

Q

Epizootiologic characteristics

A

Vectors

  • mechanic=without development
  • biological=with development
  • multiplicative=multiplication in host
  • cycloevolutive=evolution, no multiplication
  • cyclomultiplicative=both evolution and multiplication
  • reservoir= harbors without direct suffering
  • bridge=parasite bearing unusual shape, often in connection of biological life cycles

Q

Metabolic dependence

A

Q

Number of hosts

A
  • monoxenic=one definitive host, direct
  • heteroxenic=one D.H, with one or more I.H, indirect
  • autoheteroxenic=same animal acting as both D.H and I.H depending on parasite stage
