Pressure on earths resources and environment

Over population
Too many people in area relative to available resources putting pressure on them.
Reduce standard of living.
No advances in technology = no increase in resources.
Only a fall in pop would help this.
How does population density not apply to over population ?
Areas which are densely populated are not over populated like the Netherlands.
Mali however is sparsely populated and struggles to provide basic needs
Under population
Few too many people to use resources effectively for given level of technology.
Increase in population means more effective use of resources and increased living standards.
Like Australia / Norway
