Osteology of orbit Flashcards
What nerves are found in the orbit?
II III IV V1 V2 VI
What ganglion is found in the orbit?
Cilary ganglion
What does the superior orbital fissure transmit?
III, IV, V1, VI.
Orbital branch of middle meningeal.
Superior ophthalmic vein
What branches of V1 transmitted by superior orbital fissure?
Lacrimal, frontal and nasocilary nerve
What does the optic canal transmit?
Optic nerve, ophthalmic artery, central retinal vein
What bone forms the superior border of the orbit?
Orbital plate of frontal bone
What bones forms the inferior border of the orbit?
Orbital plate of maxilla
What forms the lateral wall fo the orbit?
Zygomatic process of frontal bone and zygomatic bone
What are the extraocular muscles?
Superior rectus, inferior rectus, lateral rectus, medial rectus, inferior oblique, superior oblique, levator palperai superioris
All extra ocular muscles are attached to this except for inferior oblique?
Tendinous ring
Where does inferior oblique originate?
Floor of orbit
What are the innervations of the extra ocular muscles?
Lateral rectus = abducens
Superior oblique = trochlear
All the others = occulomotor
What is the function of medial rectus?
Adduction
What is the function of lateral rectus?
Abduction
What is the primary action of superior rectus?
Elevation and adduction
