What are the cardinal signs of obstructed bowels… what will you observe?
- visible peristaltic waves (because the GI is trying to push that bulk out) … this is a good thing to see.
with high pitched bowel sounds with auscultation

No. only part of the colon
with an abdomino- perineal resection.. what is removed? can you take a rectal temp on this patient? why?
colon, anus, and rectum no because they have no rectum. it has been removed.
NEVER take a rectal temp on these 3 types of patients!!!
1- thrombocytopenic (may bleed)
2- immunosupressed (may introduce infection or may bleeding and get infection)
3- has had an abdominal-perineal resection (they have no rectum) LMAO!!!
