CARDIOVASCULAR SYSTEM Cardiac tamponade Flashcards

Q

what is cardiac tamponade?

A

Compression of the heart caused by fluid collecting in the sac surrounding the heart.

*when blood has leaked into the pericardial sac and it is being compressed by it because that sac can only stretch so far and when it can’t stretch anymore, it will start squeezing the heart*
