what is a behavioural category
A
where psychologists must decide which specific behaviours should be examined, involving breaking the target behaviour down into components which can be observed and measured

what is event sampling
A
the observer decides in adcance what types of behaviour they are interested in and records all occurrences, all other behaviour is ignored,

what is time sampling
A
the observer decides in advance the observation will take place only during specified time periods eg every 10 minutes and records the occurence of the specified behaviour during that period only.
