external reliability Flashcards
what is external reliability
the extent to which a measure is consistent when assessed over time or across different individuals
external assessment: what is test-retest reliability
assessing the same person on two different occasions which shows the extent to which the test produces the same answers over time
external assessment: what is inter-observer reliability
the extent to an agreement between to or more observers when the same participant and behavioural categories are observed, each observer’s data is compared to check for consistency
how is data measured in inter-observer reliability
measured by correlating observations of two or more observers - calculating correlation co-efficient. correlation co-efficient of 0.8+ is considered highly reliable
