What are some signs of abnormal behaviour?
Sudden behavioural changes, Bizarre/Disorganised behaviour

What is paraperesis?
Weakness of two pelvic limbs
What is Tetaparesis?
Weakness of all four limbs
What is hemiparesis?
When an animal is weaker along one side
What is a resting tremor?
When a tremor continues despite muscles being in a relaxed state
What is an action tremor?
Tremor that occurs when an animal is moving
What is an isometric/ orthenic tremor?
Tremor of muscles that hold you up against gravity/ muscles that contract when you stand
What does hypermetial mean?
high stepping gait with exaggerated movements
What does hypometria mean?
Decreased rate/range/force of movement
What are two things that can cause an animal to circle?
Vestibular syndrome or Forebrain disease
Which way will an animal with forebrain disease circle?
Animal will always circle towards the lesion
What is ataxia?
Uncoordinated gait, due to a lack of kinesthesia
What is the spinocerebellar proprioceptive pathway?
Takes info from the reflex arc to the cerebellum
What is the conscious proprioception pathway?
Takes info straight to the cerebellum (somatic)
allows us to sense the position of the limb
What are the signs of an UMN lesion?
reflexes will be hyperactive
Increased muscle tone
