What are some of the clinical manifestations of neurological disease?
Epilepsy, seizures, involuntary movement, posture/gait, weakened muscle tone
What parts of the autonomic nervous system are affected by neurological disorders?
Pupillary constriction/dilation
salivation/ digestion (vagus nerve)
What are some symptoms of bladder paralysis?
leakage, sores, infection
What can seizures in dogs be split into?
intracranial- idiopathic disease or brain trauma
extracranial- presence of toxins
idiopathic epilepsy is the most common
What does it mean when we say that epilepsy is a progressive disorder?
seizures damage the brain making more seizures even more likely
What are some abnormalities that can occur after long seizures?
Dehydration, Electrolyte imbalance, acid-base balance, changes in behvaiour, neurological deficits
