Neuro development Flashcards
What germ layer do the meninges derive from?
Mesoderm
Where do specific areas of the meninges derive from?
anterior of skull - from neural crest cells of mesoderm
caudal of skull and spine - para-axial mesoderm
What is the first and last of the meninges to develop?
Pai is first - day 24
Arachnoid is last - day 57
what do the lens epithelial cells have a large content off?
Crystalines proteins
What forms the adrenal Medulla?
Neural crest cells
What factors promote the neural tube development?
Chortin and Noggin released this then inhibits BMP-4 allowing the ectoderm to become the neural plate
What are the plates that derive from neuroblast cells that form in the spinal cord?
Alar plate: Dorsal horn
Sulcus limiticans: Intermediate horn
Basal Plate: Anterior horn
What are the zones that occur in the developing spinal cord?
Mantle zone - grey matter
Marginal zone - white matter
What week does the cephalic flexure develop?
Week 3
What is the artery that forms in the choriod fissure? and what will it become?
Hyaloid artery
Central retinal artery
What does SHH do during eye development?
Inhibits BAX6 - which allows to eyes to form instead of one
Where do the eyelids derive from?
Ectoderm and Mesenchymal tissue
The bilaminer cup has outer and inner layers, what do they form and what do they fuse together to make?
Outer - pigmented area
Inner - Nervous layer
Fused together - Ciliary body and Iris
What are the parts of the spinal cord when developing that do not contain neuroblast cells?
Roof plates
Floor plates
At what week is there growth of spinal nerves?
Week 8-9
