Nervous System Lab Flashcards
No. 37 Duodenum, Ileum, and Jejunum: Look between the inner circular and outer longitudinal layers of smooth muscle for the controlling cells of peristalsis, the neuronal cell bodies and processes in the myenteric plexus. These cell bodies are part of the intramural ganglia of the parasympathetic nervous system. Look in the submucosa for the submucosal plexus. These two plexuses contain axons, dendrites, and neuronal cell bodies of the parasympathetic nervous system and axons only of the sympathetic nervous system.
White matter vs. grey matter

White matter
- sds
Grey Matter

Identify

Cerebrum
- Choroid Plexus
- ependymal cells
- make CSF

Identify

Cerebrum- Meningeal layers
- Dura mater
- Pia mater
Identify

Grey matter
what cells would be here?
- oligodendrocytes
- neurons
- astrocytes
Identify

Cerebrum
Identify layers

Cerebellum

yellow=granular
green=perkinje
purple=molecular
blue=white matter
Identify

White matter
Identify

Neuron
Identify

Spinal cord/ medulla oblongata
central canal (Blue)
- CSF
- lined by ependimal cells
Grey matter
- ventral horn= motor neurons (largest)
- intermediate= autonomic neurons
- dorsal horn= sensory neurons (smallest)
White matter
- dorsal funiculi
- ventral funiculi
- lateral funiculi

Identify

yellow=ganglia
green= derematar
orange= piamater

Identify

cross section of a nerve
Within this area we generally refer to cells as Axons.
could be schwann cells too
Identify

Nodes of ranvier in nerve!
areas of axon that are bare between the various myelinated parts (schwann cells) are evident due to little lines in slide

Identify

Cross section of Peripheral Nerve

Remember, schwann cells surround axons (myelin)
