Epithelial Lab Flashcards
Tongue: Locate the dorsal and ventral epithelium, classify it, and note the main difference between the two.
Note adipose tissue.
Note blood vessels lined with endothelium=
Note blood vessels lined with endothelium= squamous epithelium.
Note adipose tissue.
Dorsal is thicker than ventral
Digital pad: identify parts and classify
- melanin
- ct
- keratin
Note the heavily keratinized (cornified) superficial layer of this stratified squamous epithelium.
Hyaline cartilage (trachea):
- Locate and classify the lining tissue of the trachea.
- connective tissue (classify)
- Locate the lumen.
pseudostratified ciliated columnar epithelium with goblet cells.
-loose irregular connective tissue
Salivary gland:
Locate mucous and serous cells in mixed acinar adenomeres
large and small ducts lined by_____.
Large and small ducts lined by cuboidal cells
Pancreas:
Locate pancreatic acini and ducts.
Ducts are lined by _______.
Ducts are lined by cuboidal cells.
acinar cells, pink in center due to basic zymogen granuels (that like the eosin stain). Outside is blue because of acidic cytoplasm (likes hemosiderin)
Lable glands (2)
Note the stratified squamous epithelium on the inner side (mucous membrane) and the outer side (skin) of this section. Locate sebaceous glands emptying into hair follicles in the skin. Recall the holocrine method of secretion in these glands. Locate simple coiled tubular glands that secrete sweat into hair follicles continuous with the surface epithelium. They secrete by the apocrine method.
Eyelid: Classify the lining tissue. Locate the very large Meibomian glands, sebaceous glands that produce the oil film of tears.
Sebacious gland of the eyelid!
