Musculocutaneous nerve Flashcards
What muscles are innervated by the Musculocutaneous nerve?
Muscles of the anterior compartment of the arm (Coracobrachialis, Biceps brachii and Brachialis)
What sensory innervation does the muculocutaneous nerve supply?
Lateral surface of the forearm (via a branch called the lateral cutaneous nerve of the forearm)
How can a lesion to the Musculocutaneous nerve occur?
Stabbing
What motor function is damaged by a lesion to the Musculocutaneous nerve?
Coracobrachialis, Brachialis and Biceps brachii are paralysed
What movements are limited due to damage to the Musculocutaneous nerve?
Flexion at the shoulder is weakened
Flexion at the elbow is weakened
Supination is effected
Which cord of the Brachial Plexus does the Musculocutaneous nerve arise from?
The lateral cord
Where is the Musculocutaneous nerve as it passes down the arm?
Anterior to the Brachialis and posterior to the Biceps brachii
