Generic name: misoprostol Tablets: 100mcg, 200mcg Can be dosed up to 800mcg per day Often divided into 2-4 daily doses Auxiliary labels: take with food, avoid antacids containing magnesium Notes: synthetic prostaglandin, stimulates production of protective mucus and bicarbonates in stomach, increases regeneration of gastric epithelial cells Avoid use in pregnancy Stimulate uterine contractions
