Common Facts

A

Common ending: -dronate
Commonly used to treat: osteoporosis
Common adverse reaction: painful swallowing, heartburn, N/V/D (nausea/vomiting/diarrhea), can cause damage to esophagus
Common auxiliary labels: take with a full glass of water, take on an empty stomach, avoid dairy, iron, antacids, do not lie down for at least 30 minutes after taking

A

Antiresorptive agents
Inhibit osteoclast activity
Osteoclasts=cells responsible for bone resorption
Suppress bone turnover and bone loss
