MIL Lesson 1 - Flashcards
Parts of Comm. Model. One who sends or delivers a message, and who initiates the communication process.
Source or Sender
Parts of Comm. Model. The information or the verbal and nonverbal message conveyed to another person or a group of people
Message
Parts of Comm. Model. Ways to communicate information. It is also the channel through which the message is coursed.
Medium
Parts of Comm. Model. This part of the communication process receives the message. The communication process is considered successful when the receiver responds the way the source intended.
Receiver
Parts of Comm. Model. Response of the receiver after getting the message from
the source.
Effect
Parts of Comm. Model. An important product of the communication process. It tells the source how effective the selected message and channel to the receiver. This confirms whether there is MUTUAL UNDERSTANDING between the source and the receiver.
Feedback
Parts of Comm. Model. Disruptions in comm. process. These are interference that can occur when the source sends a message.
Noise or Barriers
Model.
Sender > Message > Medium > Receiver > Effect
Laswell’s Comm. Model
(L for Linear/Laswell)
This follows the linear model though introduces noise as it goes through the channel and includes feedback from receiver to sender.
Transmission Model: Shannon and Weaver’s Comm. Model
(Weaver for crossing a thread or bumabalik sa sender yung idea through feedback)
Circular model where the main elements are the encoder and the decoder acting as one another as it both take turns in sending a message.
Reception Model: Osgood-Schramm Model
(OsgOOd for circular model mhmhmhm)
a. Model involving interpersonal and mass communication.
b. What are its 5 elements?
a. Westley and MacLean’s Model of Comm.
b. Xn: Event or Information
f: Feedback
A: Advocate
C: Channel
B: Audience
Reception model that follows the SMCR (source message channel receiver) model. Accounts for factors that affect comm.
Reception Model: David Berlo’s Comm. Model
