A

Damage to tissues/organs caused by the host response leads to inflammation, auto-immunity, cytokine/lymphocyte deregulation.

Q

Describe immunopathology associated with re-infection w dengue.

A

Monocytes are not susceptible to dengue upon initial exposure…If pre-existing antibodies are present from a previous infection, a second exposure to dengue allows antibody-virus conjugates to bind Fc receptors -> facilitating virus uptake into these cells (which are normally non-susceptible).
