Because of buildups of colestrole containing plaques on the walls of the arteries, leading to restricted blood flow and eventual heart attack

A
Drugs that reduces a persons risk of Coronary heart disease by lowering the level of colesterole in the blood.

How do statin drugs work?
A
By blocking the HMG-CoA reductase enzyme and thereby preventing it from converting HMG-CoA to mevalonate, and thereby limiting the body`s biosynthesis of cholestrole
