Maths Flashcards
Sin of an angle?
Opposite divided by Hypotenuse
Cos of an angle?
Adjacent divided by Hypotenuse
Tan of an angle?
Opposite divided by Adjacent
Vertical component of a right-angled triangle?
Opposite
Horizontal component of a right-angled triangle?
Adjacent
Vertical component formula?
velocity sin (angle)
Horizontal component formula?
velocity cos (angle)
Hypotenuse formula?
A squared + B squared = C squared
Formula of a straight line?
Y = MX + C
What does ‘M’ mean in the formula of a straight line?
The gradient of a line
Formula for the gradient of a line?
M = increase in Y divided by increase in X
What does ‘C’ mean in the formula of a straight line?
C = Y intercept
What is a Y intercept?
Where the line crosses the Y axis
When does acceleration = zero in a velocity vs time graph?
At the highest and lowest peaks of the line
When does maximum negative acceleration occur in a velocity vs time graph?
When the line is sloping downward and towards the right
What does acceleration equate to in a velocity vs time graph?
The gradient
What is the top angle of a right angled triangle? Sin/cos/tan?
Sin
What is the right angle of a right angled triangle? Sin/cos/tan?
Tan
What is the opposite angle to the right angle of a right angled triangle? Sin/cos/tan?
Cos
How many meters are in a kilometre?
1000
How many seconds are in an hour?
3600
How do you turn km/hr into m/s?
1000(km) divided by 3600
vGRF = 1800{1+(rs/3)} what rs produces a vGRF of 4500N?
- Rearrange the equation so rs is on its own
- What you do to one side of the equation you must do to the other side of the equation
- rs = 3{(vGRF/1800) - 1}
- rs = 3{(4500/1800) - 1} = 3{2.5 - 1} = 3{1.5} = 4.5
Formula for speed?
v = d/t
