Main Steam System Alarms Flashcards
1
Q
EK-0130, “STEAM AND FEEDWATER PENETRATION HI TEMP”
A
EK-0130, “STEAM AND FEEDWATER PENETRATION HI TEMP”
- Alarm is indicative of a ventilation system failure or a steam leak in the area.
- ARP-1 directs verifying proper ventilation, initiating a work request, and referring to SOP-24.
- If the cause is a steam leak, it must be isolated or the plant must shutdown to allow repair.
2
Q
EK-0166, “MAIN STEAM ISO VALVE ACCUMULATOR LO PRESS”
A
EK-0166, “MAIN STEAM ISO VALVE ACCUMULATOR LO PRESS”
- Indicates a loss of instrument air, a local air leak, or a solenoid leaking by
- ARP-1 directs performance of EOP-1 if the reactor tripped, checking solenoid valves, or valving in high pressure air.
- The plant will trip if an MSIV drifts off its open limit switch.
3
Q
EK-0965, “STEAM GEN LO PRESS CONTROL CKT UNDERVOLTAGE”
A
EK-0965, “STEAM GEN LO PRESS CONTROL CKT UNDERVOLTAGE”
- Indicates loss of Y10, Y20, Y30, or Y40 supply to the Steam Generator pressure channels
- ARP-5 directs reference to ONP-24.
- Steam Generator pressure channels will fail low on loss of power and 2/4 channels at 512 psig will close the MSIVs. This will trip the reactor.
4
Q
EK-0966, “ MAIN STEAM ISOLATION VALVE UNDERVOLTAGE
A
EK-0966, “ MAIN STEAM ISOLATION VALVE UNDERVOLTAGE
- Indicates loss of 125V DC (D11-1 or D21-1) supply to MSIV control circuit/solenoid valves
- ARP directs reference to ONP-2.3, Loss Of DC Power.
- If loss of power to the MSIVs results in closing the MSIVs, it will trip the reactor.
- Will need manual action to close MSIVs
5
Q
EK-0970, “STEAM GEN VALVES ISOLATION LOCKOUT
A
EK-0970, “STEAM GEN VALVES ISOLATION LOCKOUT
- Indicates bypass of MSIV closure on Low SG pressure with pushbutton (HS/LPE-50A and/or B) depressed with 3 of 4 SG pressure channels less than 548 psia, but greater than 512 psia.
- Defeats Auto closure of affected MSIV, FW Reg Valve, and FW Bypass Valve due to low SG pressure
- ARP directs reference to in-use EOP or GOP-9 if applicable.
6
Q
EK-3405, “MAIN STEAM PEN ROOM HIGH TEMP
A
EK-3405, “MAIN STEAM PEN ROOM HIGH TEMP
- Alarm is indicative of a ventilation system failure or a steam leak in the area.
- ARP directs verifying proper ventilation.
- If the cause is a steam leak, it must be isolated or the plant must shut down to allow repair.
