Indicates bearing or balance problem, or abnormal lube oil temperature or flow

MFP is required to be shutdown if the problem is a thrust failure or if vibration rises to 3.5 mils.

High Vibration does not have a trip function. Feedwater Pump Turbine is tripped by TH-0563 at 12 mils North (towards pump or normal), or 24 mils South (away from pump or counter) on thrust failure.

Low level indicates a leak in the system downstream of the Condensate Pumps or a problem with makeup.

High level indicates a Condenser tube leak or a problem with makeup.

Condensate Reject Valve CV-0731 opens at 76%.

CV-0732, Normal Level Control, opens at 66% and CV-0733, Emergency Fast Makeup Level Control, would open at 58%, but valve is isolated.

High level will cover the tubes and reduce heater efficiency.

If due to heater tube leak, load must be reduced and the heater bypassed and removed from service. SOP-10 restrictions when bypassing heaters:

  • 600 MWe for bypassing any two stages of heaters
  • 97% if bypassing E-6A or E-6B
