Q

MA II: Thoracic and Lumbar

thoracic spine kinematics

A
  • 30-40° flexion, 20-25° deg extension
  • 30° horizontal (axial) rotation (ipsilateral joint approximation)

MA II: Thoracic and Lumbar

lumbar spine kinematics

A
  • 0-50° flexion, 0-15° extension
  • 0-5° rotation (R rotation opens R facets)
  • 0-20° side bending

Q

MA II: Thoracic and Lumbar

lumbopelvic rhythm during flexion

A
  • Bending forward: 40° lumbar flexion, 70° (hip) pelvic on femoral flexion
  • Too much lumbar flexion → limited hamstrings and hip flexion
  • Limited lumbar flexion → greater mobility is required at the hip joint

Q

MA II: Thoracic and Lumbar

lumbopelvic rhythm during extension

Q

MA II: Thoracic and Lumbar

anterior and posterior pelvic tilt in sitting (muscles)

A
  • Anterior tilt pelvis caused hip flexor and back extensor muscles
  • Posterior pelvic tilt is caused by abdominal and hip extensor muscles
