Q

limbic system functions

A
  • ” feeling brain”
  • affects emotional aspects of behavior (including rewards/consequences)
  • crucial for learning and memory (short + long term)
  • communicates with all sensory areas to awaken complex memories

Q

basal ganglia

A
  • masses of gray matter deep within hemispheres of cerebrum
  • part of limbic system
  • work w/ cerebellum to regulate planning motor movements/motor learning
  • have inhibitory effect on cerebral cortex (slow/control precise movement)
