12
Q

Lumbricals

A

Proximal attachment: the tendons of FDP

Distal attachment: the extensor expansions of digits II - V

Innervations: 1st and 2nd by the median nerve, 3rd and 4th by the deep branch of ulnar nerve

Actions: flex metacarpophalangeal joint while extending interphalangeal joints (“bye-bye”)

14
Q

Dorsal interossei

A

Proximal attachment: Adjacent sides of all 5 metacarpals

Distal attachment: Extensor expansions of digit II, III, IV

Innervation: Deep branch of ulnar nerve

Actions:
- Abduction of digits II, III, IV
- Assist the lumbricals to flex metacarpophalangeal joints while extending interphalangeal joints

Q

A

17
Q

Palmar interossei

A

Proximal attachment: Medial side of metacarpal II, lateral sides of metacarpals IV and V

Distal attachment: Extensor expansions of digits II, IV and V

Innervation: Deep branch of ulnar nerve

Actions:
- Adduction of digits II, iV and V (third digit cannot adduct)
- Assist the lumbricals to flex metacarpophalangeal joints while extending interphalangeal joints
