Q

What is larger a population or community? Why?

A

A population is larger that a community because a community consist of various types of species in a given area while, a population only consist of one species in a given area.

16
Q

What is a biosphere?

A

All the life on the planet.

17
Q

What does the P in PMC stand for and, what is its definition.

A

The P, in PMC, stands for program. The program is the genetic code of an organism such as, DNA or RNA.

18
Q

What does the M in PMC stand for and, what is its definition.

A

The M, in PMC, stands for metabolism. The metabolism is the way organisms process energy.

19
Q

What does the C in PMC stand for and, what is its definition.

A

The C, in PMC, stands for container. This refers to keeping the area inside n organism controlled.

20
Q

What does the C in CER stand for and, what is its definition.

A

The C, in CER, stands for claim. The claim is a statement that a scientist makes when they have a theory.

21
Q

What does the E in CER stand for and, what is its definition.

A

The E, in CER, stands for evidence. The evidence supports the claim by giving logical facts from data that was collected.

22
Q

What does the R in CER stand for and, what is its definition.

A

The R, in CER, stands for reasoning. The reasoning supports both the claim and the evidence by explaining why the evidence is valid and why the evidence supports the claim itself

23
Q

What is larger atom or a molecule? What makes them smaller/larger?

A

A molecule is larger than an atom. Molecules are a group of bonded atoms, therefore, making molecules larger and more complex.

24
Q

How many different levels of an organism are there and, what are they from smallest to largest?

A

There are 13 different levels of organisms.
1. Atom
2. Molecule
3. Organelle
4. Cell
5. Tissue
6. Organ
7. Organ System
8. Organism
9. Population
10. Community
11. Ecosystem
12. Biome
13. Biosphere

25
Q

What is an example of each letter in the PMC model?

A

An example of P/Program in DNA or RNA.
An example of M/Metabolism is when the human body transforms food intro usable energy.
An example of C/Container is the cell membrane.

26
Q

Are virus alive? Justify your answer with evidence and reasoning. (CER)

A

Viruses are not alive even though they are biotic. One of the main characteristics of a living organism is that it can produce its source of energy. The influenza virus does not have an energy or carbon source. Sponge, however, has the energy source of the organic compounds and has a carbon source of carbohydrates. Viruses also do not have a carbon source or produce waste which the vast majority of living things do. The PMC , Program, Metabolism, and Container, model of life says that a living things, such as Amoeba, should have a container and metabolize which viruses, like the Anovirus, or influenza virus, do not do because virus don’t have a cell membrane and they do not produce their own every source or produce waste. Also, Viruses need a host to survive, and reproduce. However, all other living organisms, like a human, dog, bird, Bactria, or fish, do not need a host for any means of living. As you can see, compared to the list of living organisms, viruses don’t fit the pattern seen in the other life forms and should not be considered alive, but biotic.
