Question 1

Syringe and vial

Answer 1

1. Wash hands
2. Prepare vial
   - if cloudy then roll the inslun between hands to mix. Wipe rubber stopper with alcohol wipe
3. Draw air into syringe
   - remove cap and pull plunger back to prevent a vacume
4. Inject air into vial
5. Draw up insulin
   - keep needle in vial and turn upside down and check for bubble (gently tap t remove and push them out)
   6.remove needle and check dose
6. Inject

Question 2

Refillable pen and cartridge

Answer 2

1. Wash hands
2. Insert cartridge
3. Attatch pen needle
   - remove inner and outer needle caps but save outer for disposal
4. Prime the pen
   - turn dial to 2 and hold pen upwards and press button and a small drop should be on the top
5. Select dose
   - inject
6. Remove and dispense needle

Question 3

Pre-filled disposable pen

Answer 3

1. Wash hands
2. Check pen
   - if insulin cloudy then roll pen and turn upside down 10x
3. Attatch pen needle
4. Prime pen
5. Select dose
6. Inject
7. Dispose
8. Store used pens at room temp and unused in fridge

Question 4

Insulin pumps

Answer 4

1. Wash hands
2. Check reservoir- have enough for whole day
3. Attach infusion site
4. Connect pun pro
5. Programme pump
6. Monitor and maintain pump
