What are channels 1, 2, 3 and 4 used for?
1 - Main incident command channel
2 - additional incident command at larger incidents And requires the attendance of the command unit
3 - to use between crew group when doing specific task. One member must monitor 1
4 - not to be used (unless directed by duty radio officer)
What are radio channel 5, 6, 7 and 8 used for?
5 - subsurface with leaky feeder Not beyond the RVP
6 - BA comms (unless 5 in use)
7/8 - lagacy interoperability - 8 used by police leaky feeder or base station/repeater
What are channels 10 and 11 used for?
10 - CU staff
11 - monitoring of air port hand held traffic. Message should not be sent unless it is safety critical
What are the fire ground call signs for wm, drivers and BA?
WM - station, appliance followed by 1
Driver- station, appliance followed by 2
BA - station, appliance followed by 3/4
Name two areas where radio may cause a problem?
Hospitals - may affect electronic medical equipment
On CU - hand held radios must be switched off whilst on CU as they may cause interference and cause unnecessary back ground noise
Channel 5 should also be used at premises where?
Leaky feeders and base station equipment is installed or deployed.
The term base station and repeater mean the same. What channels can be used? And how far away from each should they be to avoid interference?
Channels 2, 5 and 8
Channel 2 and channel 5 can be run at the same time as long the two base station are more than 10m apart (CU or LUL RVP)
