For the purpose of all operational procedures the term command is defined as?
‘The act of directing and co-ordinating all personnel and resources within the DMM to assist in
ensuring the incident reaches a safe satisfactory conclusion’
Siting of appliances
The IC and appliance commanders should consider the following points when siting appliances:
- Entry and exit of other emergency vehicles.
- Access to appliances for ladders and equipment.
- Space for the deployment of aerial or other specialist appliances.
- Ensure that appliances can be easily moved for redeployment.
- Maintain a thoroughfare for other road users where this does not endanger crews.
- Identification of a suitable rendezvous point.
The IC will at all times ensure that actions being taken complement the primary objectives of operational incident command, which are?
- To save life;
- To prevent further spread/loss/ risk of injury;
- To mitigate damage;
- To mitigate environmental damage;
- Minimise disruption to the community.
Where should the IC handing/taking over aide memoir be located?
An aide memoire of handing over/taking over is provided in the top left hand pocket of the ICW (Form 5763 initial command pump aide memoire)
Functions of initial command pump (ICP)?
3 key functions
The ICP will be established as soon as possible whenever more than one pumping appliance is in
attendance.
The headlights and blue beacons of the designated ICP should remain on to assist in identifying
this appliance as the ICP.
The ICP should not be the base pump or a pump which is involved in other pumping duties
The RMC is in a constant state of readiness and is activated in response to ?
- 4 pump incidents and above.
- Major special services.
- Civil disturbances.
- Incidents of special interest.
- Multiple casualties or loss of life of Brigade personnel.
- Directions from the officer of the day.
and provide -
• To provide assistance and additional information to the IC.
• To provide incident resource information.
• To keep Brigade principal officers aware of incidents developments
• To form an additional communications link with other emergency services/agencies as considered necessary in the light of developing situations.
DMM -
The IC’s objectives will be based upon the principal aims of the Brigade? 5
- Save life.
- Extinguish fire.
- Render humanitarian services.
- Control damage.
- Protect the environment.
