A

Area DAC, fire safety principal manager and staff officer. As soon as possible.

Normally be notified by the fire investigation team.

  • can’t find the cause of primary fire
  • serious injury or fatalities- even self inflicted or removed.

For what purpose might the fire investigation dog be required? and how might an IC go about requesting the FI Dog?

A

To search for ignitable liquids/accelerants.

A request should be made for FIT to contact the appliance mobile and the FIO could advise if the FI Dog would be appropriate.

What should be done when requesting FIT?

A

Name the appliance mobile which the IC can be contacted on (makes sure that it is turned on) and monitor the radio to give or receive information

when sending the message the work “Fire investigation Unit” should be used and not FIU, as this may be confused with FRU.

Yes. This must be discussed post incident. This will enable constructive guidance to be given to aid future accurate recordings

the police are not normally required to attend secondary fire, unless it is consider that there are trends or spates of arson. In all case FFR1’s should be completed.
