Histo Liver gallbladder and panc Flashcards
Portal Triad
Bile Duct, Portal Vein, Hepatic Artery
Blood supply to the liver
Portal vein (75%)- unoxygenated Hepatic artery (25%) - oxygenated obviously
Just to make sure, make damn sure you know that the portal vein carries blood between the capillary bed surrounding the GI tract - stomach and intestines- and the sinusoids of the liver
ok
What does a portal canal carry?
Portal triad and lymphatic vessels
Blood from the portal vein and hepatic artery combines where?
IN the sinusoids….Where does this blood then flow?
Into a venule called the Central Vein
Central Vein flows into what?
Sublobular vein which carries blood to the hepatic veins which then connects with the IVC
Portal canals contain?
Portal triads….fucking know it
Describe the concept of a classic lobule?
A six sided prism with a portal canal at each corner. Blood from the portal canals dump into the sinusoids, then into the central vein, goes deep into the liver and eventually into the sublobular vein, then to the hepatic veins and eventually to the IVC
Hepatocytes make up what percent of the liver?
80%
What do hepatocytes do?
Make Proteins, they are involved in storage, metabolism, and waste removal
Stellate cells found where?
Distributed among hepatocytes
What are Kupffer cells
Macrophages responsible for removing bacteria and damaged rbcs
Kupffer cells found where?
Sinusoids
What is the space of disse
located between the fenestrated endotehlium of sinusoids and hepatocytes
What produces bile?
Hepatocytes
