General Anatomy- Reticuoloendothelial anatomy Flashcards
cortex makeup of a lymph node and what is made in each section (outer + inner)
outer- consists of mature B cells organized into follicles (follicles have germinal renters activated B cells
Inner- Mature T cells mainly
what does the medulla of a lymph node contain
lymphocytes, plasma cells, macrophages
flow of lymph thru lymph node
afferent vessels toward cortex to pass thru subs capsular sinuses and into cortical sinuses
-eventually drains thru medullary sunrises then into efferent lymphatic vessels
what do the sinuses of the lymph node contain
macrophages and reticular fibres arranged in a crisscross fashion which act like a filter
what is the largest aggregation of lymph tissue
spleen
lies between 9-11 ribs of left midaxillary line
spleen is attached by what two ligs and what do the ligs contain
- gastrosplenic lig (short gastric and left gastroepiploic aa/v)
- Splenorenal lig (terminal part of splenic aa)
what is the liver covered by
covered almost completely by visceral peritoneum except region bounded by coronary lig (bare area)
what are the 4 anatomic lobes and 2 functional lobes
right, left, quadrate, caudate
Right functional lobe- supplied by r hepatic aa
left functional lobe- supplied by left hepatic aa
what are the functional units of the liver and what are they lined by
functional units of sinusoids lined by hepatocytes and Kumpffer cells
what are sinusoids fed by and where do they drain into
fed by branches of hepatic artery and tributaries of the portal vein (supplies 70%)
-drains into the central veins -> 3 hepatic veins-> IVC
where does bile exit from the liver
right and left hepatic ducts drain bile from liver (located in the porta hepatic)- both join to form common hepatic duct
what is located in aorta hepatic
left and right hepatic aa, right and left tributaries of the portal vein, autonomic nerves and lymphatic vessels
what does the common hepatic duct join w to form
joins w cystic duct (from gall) to form common bile duct
common bile duct joins w main pancreatic duct to go to ampulla of vater
what is the ampulla of water controlled by
under the influence of CCK which is secreted by small intestine in response to presence of fat in duodenum
What is the thymus derived from
3rd pharyngeal pouch along w the inferior parathyroid glands
what is the thymus supplied by
branches from the ant intercostal and internal thoracic arteries
what is the cortex and medulla of thymus comprised of
cortex- immature and mature T cells
medulla- lymphocytes and Hassalls corpuscles
What are Hassals corpuscles
oval bodies made up of a central area of degenerated cells surrounded by concentricaly arranged flattened keratinized epithelial cells
route of the thoracic duct (from low to high)
passes thru diaphragm at T12 to right of aorta
-crosses from R to L at T4/5 in post mediastinum
-assends to left neck to empty into the junction of left internal jug/subclavian veins
where does the thoracic duct drain from
lower half of body
left half of head and neck
left half of chest
